Hitchin Netball Club: History Timeline... since 2022

2025 – Present: Modern Era
In 2025, Hitchin Netball Club introduced a rebranded kit and continued to grow membership, coaching, and competitive opportunities. Additional Level 2 coaches were recruited, and parent volunteers successfully completed Level 1 accreditation to support training and matches. The Youth section became the largest it has ever been, with more players continuing their development within the club. With a stable committee in place, the club expanded support for players in need and grew its fundraising efforts worldwide. Holiday training camps and strength and conditioning sessions were added to complement regular training.

2024 – Record Growth
Membership reached a record 220 players. Coaching and volunteer support increased, allowing more training, matches, and tournaments. A Year 3 group was introduced to develop younger players, and a new earlier session for Minis was added to accommodate the growing Year 3, Year 4, and Year 5 groups, creating more space in the Junior section.

2023 – New Players
A Year 4 group began their netball journey, supported by strengthened coaching and volunteer resources to accommodate growing membership.

2022 – 2023: Rebranding
The club officially rebranded from Priory Netball Club to Hitchin Netball Club with a new logo. A Year 5 group was introduced, providing a development pathway for younger players while emphasising inclusivity and community focus.

Our Roots – Priory Netball Club
Hitchin Netball Club builds on the legacy of Priory Netball Club, preserving a welcoming and ambitious environment while evolving to meet the needs of modern players.

Priory Netball Club (2007–2022)
Early Beginnings (2007–2008)
Originally known as The Priory Netball Club, our journey began in 2007 at The Priory School in Hitchin. What started as an adult Back to Netball group on indoor courts quickly blossomed into a dynamic community of netball enthusiasts. As our membership grew, we transitioned to training on the five outdoor courts at the rear of the school.

Expansion and Junior Development (2009–2020)
In 2009, we proudly expanded to include a junior club, providing weekly coaching for players from Year 5 to Year 13. This marked a pivotal moment in our commitment to nurturing young netball talent, with generations of players growing through the club.

Separation (2021–2022)
A significant milestone in our club’s development came in 2021 when we formally separated the adult and junior sections. This decision allowed both sections to flourish independently, with their own dedicated committees, ensuring focused growth and development.
