Our Coaching Team
Our qualified and enthusiastic coaching team helps every player develop their skills, confidence and enjoyment of netball. Every session is led by at least one Level 2 coach, with additional qualified coaches and parent helpers supporting each age group.
Our coaches regularly complete England Netball development courses. All coaches and parent helpers hold the safeguarding, DBS and first-aid credentials required for their roles.

Mary — Head Coach (Interim)
Mary is a Level 1 Coach and has coached junior netball since 2014. After playing at school and university, she returned to the sport through Priory Netball’s Back to Netball programme and has played in the Heritage League ever since.
Players can expect encouraging, inclusive and fun coaching that builds understanding and a passion for netball—along with the familiar reminder: “Get back in your circle!”

Katy — Level 2 Coach
Katy is a Level 2 Coach with over 20 years’ coaching experience. A former county and regional player, she has represented several clubs and, since moving to Hertfordshire, has played for Watford Prem, Abbey Flyers and Buntingford Netball Club.
Players can expect enthusiastic, fun and energetic coaching that encourages a love of netball and strong team bonds.

Abi — Level 2 Coach
Abi is a Level 2 Coach with around three years’ coaching experience. A proud goalkeeper, she has played netball for approximately 30 years and currently represents Royston Netball Club in East Regional Division 2.
Players can expect match-play-focused coaching that helps them put their skills into practice and make rapid progress.

Jane — Level 2 Coach
Ally — Level 2 Coach
Ally is an England Netball Level 2 Coach with four years’ coaching experience. She is also a BEE Netball Coach, Walking Netball Host and C Award Umpire, with experience spanning Premier League netball, county-level umpiring and U13 county selection.
Players can expect energetic, supportive and progressive coaching that develops technical skills, game understanding and confidence.

Elaine — Level 1 Coach Working Towards Level 2 Qualification
Elaine has played netball since the age of six, competing in various leagues in both South Africa and the UK.
She has been involved in coaching for around seven years and loves seeing young players enjoying themselves, staying active and working together as a team. Her sessions aim to help players develop confidence and a genuine joy for the game.

Zoe — Working Towards Level 2 Qualification
Sophie — Level 1 Coach
Sophie has played netball since primary school and has been involved in coaching since 2017.
Friendly, approachable and patient, Sophie enjoys helping players of all abilities develop their skills and confidence. She is particularly passionate about ensuring every player feels included and valued, regardless of their ability or experience.
Her sessions focus on developing netball skills, staying active and supporting wellbeing, while making sure players enjoy being part of a team.

Anna — Level 1 Coach
Caroline — Level 1 Coach Working Towards Level 2 Qualification
With many years of playing experience, both socially and in the Heritage League, she is passionate about helping players develop a lifelong love of netball.
She encourages everyone to have a go, do their best and enjoy being part of a team, whatever their ability or ambitions. Her sessions focus on building confidence, resilience, teamwork and friendships in a positive environment where every player feels encouraged, included and valued.

Andi — Level 1 Coach
A Level 1 Coach and lifelong netball player, she has played for local clubs, Newcastle University and in Premier Leagues.
Her coaching journey began when her twins joined HNC in Year 3, progressing from helping out to leading the year group. She loves seeing players develop their skills and passion for netball, encouraging grit, determination and giving their all whatever the result.

Rebecca — Working Towards Level 1 Qualification
Rebecca joined HNC as a Parent Helper in September 2025 and currently helps coach the Year 4 Jets.
Having played netball at secondary school, she returned to the sport after moving to Hitchin 11 years ago, playing in the Heritage League and now enjoying social netball. A genuine all-rounder, Rebecca is happy playing anywhere from GK to GS!
She loves watching the girls grow in confidence, develop their skills and build friendships. Her enthusiastic, hands-on approach encourages players to listen, participate and take responsibility for their own development.

Lizzie — Working Towards Level 1 Qualification
Lizzie is new to HNC and plans to begin her Level 1 coaching qualification in November 2026. She played competitively for Turnford Netball Club from age nine to 18 and continues to enjoy social netball.

Charlotte — Working Towards Level 1 Qualification
Jemma — Working Towards Level 1 Qualification
Jemma is new to HNC and is currently working towards her Level 1 coaching qualification. She has played netball since the age of seven and currently plays for Priory Hermitage and Twilight.
With previous coaching experience in schools and holiday clubs, Jemma is passionate about helping players develop individually and as a team.

Jen — Working Towards Level 1 Qualification
Jen has loved netball since she started playing at the age of 10 and currently competes in both the Heritage and Herts County Leagues.
New to HNC, she is beginning her coaching journey and hopes to pass on her love of the game, helping young players build confidence, friendships and a real sense of belonging through team sport.

Tashmina — Parent Helper
Steve — Grandparent Helper
Steve is in his third year of volunteering with Hitchin Netball Club.
While he has no formal netball background, he brings over 25 years of experience teaching and coaching swimming, as well as 10 years as an assistant rugby coach.
Steve enjoys being involved in something that helps young people develop and particularly values seeing players improve, grow in confidence and enjoy themselves.

Victoria — Parent Helper
Victoria joined HNC’s coaching team in September 2026, having been part of the Club since 2022 when her daughter joined.
She has played netball since secondary school, mainly through the centre court, and has competed in adult leagues across Suffolk and Bedfordshire.
After knee injuries brought her playing days to an end, Victoria wanted to stay involved in the sport she loves.
She particularly enjoys watching young players develop their skills, grow in confidence and come together as a supportive team – with plenty of giggles along the way.
