Hitchin Netball Jets Child Sponsorship Project
Helping young players learn that teamwork can make a difference — on court and around the world.
At Hitchin Netball Club, we believe netball is about more than just what happens on court.
Our Hitchin Netball Jets (Year 4) are proudly continuing the child sponsorship they began last season through Plan International UK. This season, our new Year 3 group, Rubies, are joining them by sponsoring a child of their own.
Through these sponsorships, our young netballers are supporting a global charity that helps children access education, healthcare and equal opportunities.
Through this project, our youngest players are learning what it means to be part of a wider global community. As a team, they receive updates, drawings, and letters from their sponsored friend, helping them understand life beyond their own experience and encouraging empathy, kindness, and curiosity about the world.
The sponsorship is a team experience. Updates are enjoyed together at training, and players may take part in group messages if they wish, reinforcing teamwork, inclusion, and shared responsibility.
This project reflects our commitment to developing confident, compassionate young people — not just strong netball players. By connecting sport with social responsibility, we hope to inspire our Jets to celebrate teamwork both on and off the court.
We are proud to support Plan International UK and to play a small part in helping children build brighter futures.
Netball Beyond Hitchin – Making a Global Impact

Zimbabwe: Donations funded new posts, bibs, and balls for a group who had been shooting into tyres on poles.
Pakistan: We helped a deaf school set up their very first netball team with essential equipment.

Hitchin Netball Club is more than a team — we’re a welcoming community where players of all ages build confidence, form lasting friendships, and develop skills both on and off the court.
We’re committed to making sure cost is never a barrier. The club supports players who might not otherwise be able to take part, so everyone has the opportunity to belong.
That’s why every penny raised through easyfundraising goes beyond our club, helping young people overseas access kit, equipment, and opportunities to play netball where they otherwise wouldn’t.
